Hi Everyone,

I hope that you are all doing well as we close out the 2023 Alpine Season, it ends this week at Palisades-Tahoe with the last USA FIS races of the season.  It is exciting to know that we have some new TD’s moving forward for next season including Kristina Revello, JJ Jensen and Jack Bailey.  I am very excited to bring them aboard to our team of dedicated Technical Delegates and wish to thank them for their contributions to our sport of Alpine.   A big thanks goes out to all our support team that assist in training, mentoring, examining, and encouragement to push our qualified individuals through the process.

For most of us, it was an interesting and challenging season full of success despite the number of weather challenges.  We are a diverse group that has the focus to get the job done, regardless of the challenges.    Considering the geography that we cover, it is truly remarkable how we, as a team, get the events covered throughout North America.  We should all be proud of our group and the work we all do to benefit our athletes.

As the season closes, it seems like an end though it is just a beginning as we plan for our next season.  The FIS Spring meetings are only a few weeks away which are before our USSS Congress.  In the past, our FIS Spring meetings have always been after our congress thus something new as we plan for the 24 season.   As usual, please share any information, jury situations, anything interesting from your past season experiences that may be useful in sharing with your colleagues at our fall TD updates.  Video and photos are always beneficial to the overall program.

Please plan your calendar for the fall TD updates, currently we are planning for Calgary, AB October 18-20 for the Western TD update and Lake Placid, NY October 25-27 for the East.     More information will be provided once the sites and room blocks have been determined, stay tuned for more information over the summer.

For those of you 65+, I ask you to please send me a personal email indicating your wishes to continue as a TD or retire at the end of this season.  I must provide a roster to the FIS Subcommittee for Alpine Technical Delegates prior to the spring meetings.  Please do so on receipt of this email.

Again, many thanks for all you do to support our sport of Alpine Ski Racing.  Enjoy the summer weather as it arrives.

Sincerely,

Paul
